History

Lanzafame Furniture Store, circa. 1947

Lanzafame Furniture Company was founded in 1915 by the grand father of the current business owner, Chris Lanzafame, to serve the home furnishing needs of the local Contra Costa community.  During the early century, Pittsburg was a small river-side community comprised of fishermen who worked in the San Francisco fishing industry.  As fishermen are prone to be at sea for weeks at a time, when they come back from these journeys flushed with cash, they often wanted to buy something for the family.  Chris’s Great grand-father, Camillo Lanzafame, realized there’s an opportunity to provide fine crafted home furnishing for the families in Contra Costa county.  The business flourished through the generations, growing as Contra Costa county grew.  In 1947, Lanzafame Furniture Company moved to it’s current location on 711 Railroad Avenue, in Pittsburg, California and continued the tradition of providing fine quality furniture to the local residents.
